Listening to God's Callings.

Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Have you inherited something from someone no matter how simple it seems? I have a few nice long sleeve dress shirts from my great uncle that are virtually brand new. He had so many of them. He wore one almost every time I remember visiting him. When he died in September, his daughter (my cousin) passed them on to me. While they are slightly big on me, it still serves as a keepsake and treasured representation of my uncle. Just having those shirts in my closet, gives me comfort.

Similarly, as a Christian, not all tasks that have been asked of me "fit perfectly." Often times I do my best to complete the tasks anyway because I know God has a plan. Some callings are easier than others, such as getting more involved in the Bible. Some callings are more difficult, such as being a part of a ministry in my church in which no other youth were a part of - media presentations. Both of these I have experienced success.

I promise you that God won't call you to do something if he doesn't have a special role for you. You may serve on the same committee as someone, but your purpose according to God is different. Nonetheless, the more that you delve into the opportunities the Lord gives, the more comfortable you will become.

When you hear a potentially promising calling, go ahead and put on that shirt. It may be a little big on you now, but chances are you'll fit into it eventually.

What is God calling you to do today?

God is calling me to keep blogging. Today is my 400th post!
