Gifts from the Father.

Luke 11:11-13
11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

We all know that God answers prayers in at least a small manner, but this is an interesting scripture reading for today. If our parents can give us good gifts then it's very safe to assume that God gives us great gifts as well. Let's not assume though, let's know and understand this. God gives us his power in the form of the Holy Spirit.

Children always have a way of getting what they want. Some can't even talk yet so it's not like all of them can say why they want something. We just think that they are so cute and give in, and so we award them with toys, for example. Even for a homeless person, a person who provided them money or food, must make the decision in the first place. Compare that to God. He doesn't have to think. He knows what everyone is experiencing. God automatically bestows gifts and blessings on us and they are wonderful. God's gifts are readily available - ALWAYS!

The least we can do is ask, receive, and accept empowering and inspiring gifts from our Father in Heaven. Lord, show us this gift so we can be more like you.

Blessings to all today!
