What God Doesn't Like.

Proverbs 6:16-19
16 There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

I'm sure we've all found ourselves telling others: "I'm not supposed to tell you this but..." In other words, we all gossip sometimes. God doesn't like when we do this. He wants the words that come out of our mouth to be like his would be.

According to today's scripture reading, we are not to get caught up in the worldly issues that cause us to fall over and stumble as we walk daily with Christ. Some things that were highlighted include: boasting, lying, violence, revenge, deceitfulness, and instigation. There are many other situations that can fall into this category too. Make at least a mental list of 3-5 other ways in which society tries to trip you up. Think about the ones that are sticking out like a sore thumb at this very moment in your life.

Let God know that you are aware of the areas in your walk where you're stumbling. That's where you have to start in any relationship. It's okay to admit that you mess up sometimes. Oh Lord, give us all the guidance, courage, and strength to stay away from the aforementioned temptations that you despise. May we go forth today fully cognizant of any of these ill characteristics that we possess.
