Children of God.

Romans 8:14
14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Yesterday I talked to you about your identity. As Christians, we all have one common identity: children of God. Nothing can take that fact of life away. Christ died for us!

Today, Romans tells us that if we are led by the Spirit, then we are sons of God. The problem is that so many of us don't understand the Spirit because it's not discussed enough in the Sunday sermons or during Bible study. I like to think of the Holy Spirit as an extra thick layer of God's love that surrounds us. As the spirit lives in us, it protects us and lets us feel God's presence first hand.

Because we have God's Holy Spirit within us, our body is a holy temple. Much as a church is not just a building, but it's the people who work to empower the community with Christ, the Holy Spirit is the same way. The Holy Spirit works in us to help us to be more Christ-like. Therefore, we have the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control as Galatians 5:22-23 states.

The Spirit is God's way of talking to us during prayer. When we don't have the power to express our thoughts or don't understand something, the Holy Spirit takes over. Oh, and that amazing sensation when you worship is the spirit as well. I mentioned that it communicates to us. It never fails to make sure that we recognize that we're children of God either!

A rejuvenating song for the day is "We Shine" by Fee. There are a couple other artists like Unhindered and Stellar Kart who sing this song as well.

P.S. If you have trouble with the video stopping and starting, keep the video paused, and let it "buffer" (load) as it's called for a while. You will see the red bar along the bottom advance (speed depends on your Internet connection). Wait until that bar gets pretty far along (I'd say more than halfway) before you play the video and it shouldn't pause.
