The Clock is Ticking.

2 Corinthians 4:16
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

This verse inspires me and hopefully you'll see why as this post progresses.

Paul is going on and on earlier in the chapter about the things from which he suffers. Don't we suffer too?

Yes, we do. The fact is everyone suffers in different ways. It's just part of being human. We live and learn, live and learn, live and learn - a continuous cycle. Starting from the very moment we enter this world, to the moment when we die, our life is a ticking time bomb so to speak. Furthermore, it is accompanied by pain at times and eventually deterioration in a physical sense.

I think Paul clearly understands this fact. The thing is he wasn't distracted by the time. We simply cannot worry about the worldly clock. We must focus on God's clock and understand that his time is more important overall. Also, notice the word "renewed" in the Bible verse above. It's a promise that all human beings can be made new again starting RIGHT NOW by having faith in Jesus Christ.

When we are spiritually reborn, we never stop growing. Therefore, we can never be so intimate in a relationship with God that we can't be more Christ-like. When we do die, the work God does in us is complete. Your new life, my friend, is just beginning!
