Watch What You Say.

James 3:5-6
5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.
But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

James does not hold back when he describes how much power our tongue gives us. It can certainly cause great evil if we don't watch what we say. What comes out of our mouth can burn our lives and relationships forever.

In the case of the Bible, the words are powerful and say good things. The words are like fire here as well. The difference is the words out of our mouth aren't always controlled. Sometimes the words out of our mouths burn a long path of destruction.

I know it has happened to you. Somebody said something that hurt you and blew up your insides. On the other hand, your own words were not clearly thought out and ended up burning the emotions of your best friend.

Do you think it's necessary to have communication if we're so imperfect in the first place? To make it easier on yourself and others think before you speak!

"First learn the meaning of what you say, and then speak." ~Epictetus
