The Most Important Commandment.

Matthew 22:35-40

35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

Jesus tells us the first thing we, as God's children, should do is: Love him. (If you would like read more from the bible about this other than what I have given you for today's scripture, read Deuteronomy 6.)

Love God with your whole heart... with all your affection, attention, and emotion.
Love God with your whole soul...With every fiber of who you are.
Love God with your whole mind...intelligently, questioningly, probingly, and thoughtfully.

Loving God involves a promise and a commitment. It involves your whole being. Every part of you should love God, from head to toe. He is the one who made you, who keeps you going everyday, gives you shelter, and loves you infinitely. All we could ever do is love him in return.

Work on giving your everything -- heart, mind, and soul to God.
