God is our Hero and Rescuer.

Colossians 1:13-14
13 For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son, 14 who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.

How many times do you wake up with your eyes half-closed, walking in darkness in the mornings? For me it's every morning...

Many times we walk into church Sunday mornings with that fog hanging over us. I think a lot of times it's a self-conscious act. We think we deserve to be in darkness because of what we do every day - sin!

The great news that I have to tell to you this morning is that God would never think about leaving you stranded in that dark universe. He rescued us from our sins by sending his son Jesus Christ to be tortured and eventually to die a final death on the cross. That alone should allow a transition from darkness to light.

God is our HERO and RESCUER. Have you been into a dark room and then you came out and it was extremely bright? Well that's the comparison of living on our own...without God (not realizing that God forgives our sins) and living with an understanding that he is there.

"God is eager to meet our needs and redeem us in times of trouble." (quote from faithvisuals.com)
