Family Responsibilities

Colossians 3:18-21
18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

I know when I first got my driver's license back in February, I soon had a lot of responsibilities to add to my list. It meant leaving extra early than I have to in order to get to my destination promptly, driving without distractions, and being safe. It would be a whole lot easier to be responsible if there weren't distractions in the first place!

You can see how important it is to have responsibilities as a Christian. This meant several things, one being a good relationship within your family. We are expected to be responsible within our families. Some are more successful than others, but sometimes that out of one's control (that's a whole different issue though).

Christian spouses should be characterized by submission and love, children should be obedient, and parents must be encouraging to their children. The way Christians treat their families most likely reflects their perspective of the roles that are given by God. Have God as the center piece of your life. We must extend that God-"centeredness" outside of our life too. ...That's all that can be asked!

You should also read Ephesians 5:21-6:4 for a more detailed explanation.
