Need for Workers in a Worn Out World.

Matthew 9:35-38
35 Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

We talked about mocking this week and I want to remind you to that God created everything that you see - he is smarter and wiser than you. If you realize this he will share his wisdom.

Now for today, talking about Jesus as he journeyed from town to town, teaching, preaching, and healing. The crowd that followed and supported him grew larger and larger. As he looked back at the people, his heart released a rush of compassion. They were "confused and helpless." All in all, they were needy.

How can we apply this to people today? I can tell you for a fact that the world includes hungry and hurting and needy people. It doesn't even have to be thousands of miles away in Africa, for example, there's definitely hunger Stateside as well.

Christ looked at the crowd of followers with compassion, and better yet he constantly looks at YOU in the same manner. It's okay to let him love you. Let him in. Make sure you give the compassion to the troubled and hurting people you see...the same kind that you received from Christ. It may very well be a blessing to someone specifically!

Think about what happens when you let love in and share it with the world. Are your problems as big as they were before? Pray that God sends workers into the fields to work the harvest everywhere. When you have the opportunity to go out into the world and share that compassion and generosity, thank him for letting that be possible.

“It is lack of love for ourselves that inhibits our compassion toward others. If we make friends [love] with ourselves, then there is no obstacle to opening our hearts and minds to others.” ~Author Unknown

Have a great weekend!
