Believing in God's Word.

1 John 5:9-13
9 We accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. 10 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

We're definitely starting to cross reference to other posts since the last few days, but I thought each passage was important to read and understand, plus a few extra points were worth mentioning in each post. Today we're talking about how believing in the Word of God can help declare your salvation.

I've said it before...if you lie to somebody, you're also lying to God. That probably makes you less inclined or less willing to lie. We still do it anyway because we're not perfect and me make the wrong choices. We make the wrong choices and lie because we don't see the whole big picture. We don't realize that Christ DIED on the cross for us and that we're FORGIVEN. We're forgiven all the time. Instead, we lie because we're worried about what others think. We say "Oh I don't want him or her to know that I went out today." So I'm going to say "No I didn't do that" if they ask me.

If you believe in God then you should believe in the Son of God who died for us and gave us the Word. You then should also believe that God has authority and power. He has more than anybody on this planet (and as far as I know, in heaven too)! As the scripture says above, if you have the Son then you have life. It's not that hard of a concept.

Trust the Lord like we talked about on Monday. Don't just think about believing the Word, act like you believe in the Word of God.

"Just don't talk about it. Be about it." ~Busta Rhymes (Yes, he is a rapper. That is a good quote to live by though!)
